How Do We Know Who God Is?

God is love. And if you know love, you know God and if you don’t know love, you don’t know God.
How do we know that? First of all, His Word tells us that. And secondly, every person ever created in all of creation desires love. They were created to desire love.
Did you know that Jesus said that many will come to Him and say they did all these things in His name, including miracles? And He will say, “Depart from me. I never knew you.”
How could someone do miracles in His name and then He not know them?
The reason they did it--I believe that’s the answer. Why they did what they did reveals who they loved.
If they did those things to get something, they didn’t love God, they loved themselves.
If we love ourselves, we can’t love God or anyone else.
Loving God and others requires that we die to ourselves.
And when you know love, you know God.
1 John 4:7-9
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.
Trust God’s Word no matter what.
