Memorial Day Purpose

The purpose of Memorial Day is honor the men and women who died while serving in the US military.  Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated following the Civil War and became a Federal holiday in 1971.  Many Americans celebrate Memorial Day by visiting cemetary and memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades.  Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifices that were made by millions of Soldiers and their family members who grieve the loss of a child, spouse, parent, sibling, or grandchild.  It is also a time to give thanks to God for the freedom won and defended by those who died fighting.  It is a great time to express patriotism by wearing flag and military designed jewelry; to include, Flag Cross Necklaces, Flag designed Angel Wing and Heart necklaces, Dog Tag Jewelry, and more.
