Jesus Christ lowered Himself from Heaven out of His love for His Father. He touched the lives of everyone He met like no other before Him or since. In the Book of Matthew, the redeemed soul will find five major messages that Christ gave to His disciples and followers. All His messages are still applicable today. His messages are meant to impact the world and the people in it. Matthew was a tax collector detested by most people of his day. Yet, Jesus chose Matthew to follow Him, making him a disciple (Matt. 9:9). Matthew became an eyewitness of Christ’s ministry on earth and was divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit to write (Matt 4:12-25). He wrote about Jesus being tempted and not sinning. He wrote about what it means to be like Jesus, His power, love, grace, and mercy (Matt. 10:25). Matthew was witness to Jesus by the Sea of Galilee when they came upon two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew who were fishermen. Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men (Matt. 4:19). These fishermen called by Jesus, immediately left their careers, and eventually became members of the disciples of Jesus, the twelve (Matt. 4:18-22). He taught them to be like Him. What does it mean to be like Jesus? In this complex world, how is that possible? To proclaim the message of Christ one must be born again (John 3:57). Not perfect but saved.
