Diana is a average American, who is raising money for our American Veterans, by swimming the Catalina Channel on July 9, 2016. 20 miles of swimming. www.swim4vets.org. I have always believed in physically challenging myself since I was a child. I was diagnosed with Scoliosis which is an abnormal curvature of the spine. I was just 10 years old when I received this diagnosis and wore a corrective brace for the next 2 ½ years. Unfortunately the curve continued to get worse and at the age of 12 I had to have corrective surgery. I currently have a Titanium Steele rod attached to my spine from T-2 to L-1. Dealing with a physical disease as a child made me a stronger person. It taught me to take care of my body both physically and nutritionally, to push my body beyond its comfort zone/limitations and to never take the health that I do have for granted. In this photo I'm wear a #sheildsofstrength necklace. I bought this necklace along with its mate for my 20th wedding anniversary. I wear one half and he wears the other. On it is Genesis 31:49. 'May the lord watch between you and me while we are apart'. I found this fitting as in today's day an age it is very rare to find couple who have been married for that long. There was a period im my marriage where I didn't think that we were going to last due to a long period of depression. My faith has kept my marriage together even when things were rough.
