What is a Father?

God is our model Father, and a Father to the fatherless and the fathered. The best father this world has ever known is not perfect. All fathers make mistakes, but no loving father wants to make a mistake. The greatest blessing of having a loving father is that it teaches us how to live a loving life. If we don’t have a loving father, or even if we do, the best example of how to father is Jesus. The love of Jesus not only shows us how to love....His Holy Spirit also empowers us to live a loving life. The answer to all the world’s problems is loving mothers and fathers, and the source of all love is Jesus. Ephesians 6:2-3, “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
