The Harshest Thing You Can Ever Do to Anyone
For some of you, if I said this, you would not want to listen. But if you listen, this can change your life forever. It’s so counterintuitive because we have been sold a lie for so long. The harshest thing you can ever do to someone else is to teach them to love themselves or to encourage them to embrace themselves, to be centered on self…to pursue self-esteem. You see, self is the problem, it is not the solution. Jesus never taught self-love. He taught self-denial. It’s the psychologist that teaches self-love. And what’s crazy is that self-love is the root of the vast majority of mental illness. Still, a psychologist will teach you to love yourself. You know that’s not right, and I know it, too. If you think about it and you check your heart, you know that self-love is selfish; and that love is self-less.
Philippians 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition, but in humility consider others above yourself. Trust God’s Word no matter what. Keep your eyes on the horizon.
