The One Person Jesus Refused to Defend

The One Person Jesus Refused to Defend

Posted by Kenny Vaughan on 20th Apr 2023

I spent most of my life defending myself until I realized that love is actually my best defense. But I’ll never forget coming to a place where I thought: Okay, Lord, if I am not going to defend myself, who will? And then realized I had to choose who I was going to trust. Who would I trust with my defense—myself or Jesus? It’s a pretty silly question, right? So, I choose to trust Him. And I still have to repeatedly learn to trust Him every day.  Jesus went to the cross for you. He saved you from your sin, but He did not spare you the responsibility of taking up your own cross and laying down your own life. But the good news is that when you do that and you choose to love, you choose to follow the truth. Love and the truth are much better defenses than you will ever be for yourself. Think about it.

John 18:37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” Trust God’s Word no matter what. Keep your eyes on the horizon. If you haven’t yet, read my book, “The Right Fight: How To Live a Loving Life”.
