Shields of Strength jewelry designs are created with stainless steel. This is an iron-based alloy containing nickel, chromium, and several other alloys. Primarily used in the medical field, like orthopedic applications. This alloy is noncorrosive and non-irritating to skin. The melted, refined stainless steel is then poured into a cast, and after cooling is strategically polished.

Swarovski crystals are best described as dazzling. They are manufactured with high quality lead glass crystals. Specific raw materials remain a company secret. However, it is common knowledge that three separate materials go into the process of creating this hand-crafted glass, which are quartz, sand, and minerals. Unlike diamonds, Swarovski crystals are precision-cut using an exacting machine invented specifically for the inventor. Although the FTC does not mention Swarovski crystals in their guidelines, their broader guidelines for jewelry includes crystals (A.D. Swarovski. Austria. 1892. FTC.).

This type of crystal is not found in nature. They are lead glass crystals manufactured in artistic traditional lead glass ways. They are not gemstones. But are created to give a gemstone-like appearance. This entails much time, precision cutting and polishing. Hence the need for an exacting cutting machine.
