Resolutions Failure

Why do we continue to make resolutions every year even though so few of us follow through? I believe everyone of us are guilty of breaking one or two. So why do we so often fail to follow through on resolutions?

Wrong Focus

Most of the time it is because we try to fix the results of the problem without fixing the problem. If I put new tires on my car because the inside has no tread, but don't fix the issue causing them to wear uneven, it won't be long before I am back at the tire shop.

Lay Solid Foundation

One of the things I have always enjoyed doing is building. I had to learn the hard way that if there is a tiny problem in the base of the structure it only gets worse as I build more. And the only way to truly fix it is to pull it all apart and fix the problem that started it all.

If your goal is to lose weight your gonna struggle to pass on a 300 calorie soft drink. You will struggle even more if you have not worked out and burned 300 calories. If you have no savings, your going to have a hard time holding on to that extra $200 in your pocket. It seems like it should be the other way around. It is hard to appreciate and value anything that you have not worked really hard to achieve. It's easy to let go of something that comes easy.

God's Word = Solid Foundation

Each of us have our own issues. I have learned that the best way to get straight to the foundation and fix the small problems is to seek God. My recommendation for the new year is to pay the price for what you want. If you feel you truly deserve what you want, you are much more likely to get it. Make it a point to start this year off in the Word of God. Let God guide you on the fundamentals. It's crazy how clear God will show you what needs to be done.
