What is the meaning of Proverbs 30:5?

What is the meaning of Proverbs 30:5?

"Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him."  Proverbs 30:5

Proverbs 30 is often called The Wisdom of Agur or The Oracle of Agur. This psalmist was a man of humility. He deplored arrogance and as a student of theology was passionate, going above and beyond to learn about God. This Old Testament writer peppers prophetic words about Christ Jesus to underscore that He is the One and Only Son of God (Proverbs 30:4). After Jesus’ work was finished on the cross, He ascended into heaven and became the Advocate of all redeemed souls. Jesus Christ is distinct from the Father. Agur’s divine inspired words are faith in action for he was writing ahead of earthly proof. Jesus had not yet taken on human flesh. Agur and those he was writing to lived on an earth corroded by the curse from man’s sin as it is to this very day (Genesis 3). God’s Words matter. Your faith in Jesus matters. His Word is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.
