What Makes a Manly Man
Posted by Kenny Vaughan on 11th Mar 2025
I’ve known a lot of big strong burly guys that the world would call manly men, who, when they get home to their families, their families are afraid. And I’ve known a lot of guys that the world would consider very meek, who get home to their families, and their families feel safe, protected and provided for.
I would just tell you that everything that the world tells you makes manly men is usually what cowards are doing to appear manly.
Manly men are not about how they look on the outside. It’s what you find on the inside that makes a man manly. He is not making sacrifices of his wife and children. He is willing to be the sacrifice. He doesn’t love himself. He loves his family.
The only way I know to get the inside right is to surrender, to give it all to Jesus, to accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Then, you can change on the inside. The outside will take care of himself and it’s not that important.
I think it would help every man if he has some skills that would help him provide for his family. Even if he will never need them in this life,it would still help him to be able to go catch a fish, go hunting, go chop some wood. They are simple things and any man can do them. There’s something about knowing that you can do it if you needed to, that helps a man and then helps his family.
I love manly men, but I don’t like what the world thinks makes men manly, because it’s not the truth.
Think about it. Trust God’s Word no matter what, because His Word is truth.
Keep your eyes on the horizon.
We talk about this on “The Right Fight” podcast.
