He posted that the key to life is to have low expectations. The post drew thousands of comments. I read through most of the comments to see if anyone understood what he was talking about.

The comments all said that he didn’t know what he was talking about. Unfortunately, no one understood what he was talking about You see, the purpose of life is to be fruitful. The only way anyone is ever fruitful is to live a loving life. You take care of the roots in your life. You don’t create the fruit. You are promised the fruit. God creates the fruit. Your responsibility is to take care of the roots.

But if you have expectations, if you give to get, you are manipulating. You are not loving. Fear gives to get. If you give to get, you kill the roots of your tree. No amount of expectation will give fruit to a dead tree.

If you have all the expectations in the world, but all you are is a branch on the ground and disconnected from the vine, then all those expectations don’t create anything. There’s nothing there. All they do is destroy the potential of what could have been created. Why? Because, your life isn’t about you. It isn’t about what you can get. It is way bigger and way more important than that. It is about God and it is about others.

So, if you live a loving life, take care of the roots, with no expectations, the fruit will take care of itself.
