How Do We Love Someone We Don’t Trust?

This is not an easy question. The first thing we have to remember is that we can love people who we don’t even like. We don’t have to feel love for someone in order to love them because loving them is doing what is truly best for them without regard for ourselves.

The first thing we have to do if someone has been unfaithful to us—it is our responsibility, we get saddled with it—it may not be fair, but it is just the truth that we have a responsibility to determine whether or not they have truly repented.

If they have truly repented and will change and don’t want to hurt you again, you should forgive them and fight to trust them.

We may not feel trust for them. It may take us a while to feel trust for them again, but we shouldn’t make them live under our constant fear of them being unfaithful.

But if we don’t believe they have repented, we are not loving them by pretending they have.

Think about it. Trust God’s Word no matter what, because His Word is truth.
