The world tells us that being loved is what heals us. It even suggests we should first love ourself. This is not the truth, and only leads to more suffering and dependence on either ourself or others. I think it is important to find ourself, because there are gifts we are born with that are vital to become who God created us to be. That said, I think these gifts are virtually impossible to lose. They are created into our very being. What is incredibly important is that we realize the difference between our created gifts and our sinful nature. If someone loves you, they will only do what is truly best for you with no regard for themselves and expecting nothing in return. Missing God doesn’t derail our life. Because of Jesus, repentance can have us right back on track quickly. It may take us longer to get there from where we are, and it may be a harder road to travel, but God will use it all for our good if we love Him and are willing to change directions.
