Forgiving is the best thing we can do for ourself, but if we do it for ourself, it’s not forgiveness it’s selfishness. We should forgive because we are forgiven. It’s not suggesting what someone did was ok, that it didn’t hurt us, that it doesn’t still hurt us, or that it would be ok if they did it again.   Anger and all sin are most often our enemy. I do believe there is a righteous anger, but it’s rare. Righteous anger is anger for the damage sin causes, or an anger for someone using love to hurt people....using Jesus to manipulate people. That’s why Jesus threw the tables. Justice as I understand it, is a payment equal to the damage done in an effort to restore the damaged. If someone hurts us, they can’t fix us and we can’t fix ourselves. Justice does not restore us. Love is patient because it wants what is best for others. Fear lacks patience because it’s afraid it will lose what it wants. The first sign someone may really love you is that they will be patient. They won’t be in a hurry. Taking our time in a loving relationship only leads to love growing stronger if love rules the relationship.
