What does it mean to trust God?
Trusting God is not equal to just trusting everything will work out. It also doesn’t mean “all things happen for a reason.” All things do happen for a reason, but many times the reason is our selfishness or someone else’s selfishness, or the effects of living on a fallen earth. God’s Word doesn’t say all things happen for a reason. It says all things work together for the good of those who love Him. In order to trust God, we must first know what He says, then fight to do what He says, and then t

How to heal a broken heart
The world tells us that being loved is what heals us. It even suggests we should first love ourself. This is not the truth, and only leads to more suffering and dependence on either ourself or others. We are not even capable of healing a broken heart, and neither is someone else capable of healing us. To expect that from others is not fair to them. Only God can heal broken hearts and that is His whole mission. God is love. When we love, we connect to Jesus and when we connect to the vine, fruitf

How to know if God has a better mate for you?
Someone may be a better fit for us, and they may be more loving than someone else, but if we ever buy the lie we or someone else is better or more valuable than someone else, we become a part of the problem. I am not suggesting we should remain in a relationship with a person stuck on selfish. Love never pretends selfishness is ok. I am just saying stuck on selfish -or extremely loving- none of us are more valuable or better than the other. This is a fundamental truth that we must understand. If

How to find yourself
I think it is important to find ourself, because there are gifts we are born with that are vital to become who God created us to be. That said, I think these gifts are virtually impossible to lose. They are created into our very being. What is incredibly important is that we realize the difference between our created gifts and our sinful nature. Our strongest desires are not necessarily our gifts. They may be our sinful nature. Our gifts are the most valuable things we have to offer others. They

How to know if someone loves you
If someone loves you, they will only do what is truly best for you with no regard for themselves and expecting nothing in return. Of course none of us are perfectly loving, but if they mess up they won’t defend their mess up, make excuses, or blame it on someone else. They will own it and repent. If they believe you’re missing the truth, they will tell you and do anything they can to help you change. They won’t support anything you want. They will only support what they believe is best for you.

What is the difference between valid and invalid feelings?
Valid or not valid- don’t allow feelings to lead your life. Consider them, but don’t follow them. In my own life, nothing has mislead me more than my feelings. Now and then they lead me to truth, but most often to destruction. If we follow our feelings, we will live a life based on a lie that has one goal. To use us to hurt the people around us in the process of destroying ourself. Seek the truth and follow the truth regardless of your feelings. The truth leads to fruitfulness. If you haven’t re

How hope works
Hope in the truth is a strategy. It’s a strategy worth fighting for. That said, we can’t just hope in anything. God’s Word teaches us to hope in the truth. Our hope is in Jesus, and when we trust in Him and fight to live a loving life, we can trust our hope more than our feelings. Hebrews 6:17-20, “Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, He confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it

What happens when we miss God
Missing God doesn’t derail our life. Because of Jesus, repentance can have us right back on track quickly. It may take us longer to get there from where we are, and it may be a harder road to travel, but God will use it all for our good if we love Him and are willing to change directions. The only thing that can derail us for the long haul is an unwillingness to repent and a decision to put ourself first at all cost. That decision will keep us on a path away from God until we repent. II Corinthi

A fresh start how to really change
“The Right Fight” “How To Live a Loving Life” is the most important lessons I have ever learned in my life. Available at Shieldsofstrength.com, Amazon, and most book stores. If you haven’t already, please get a copy. The world wants us to fight first, so we end up surrendering. Love requires we surrender first, and end up fighting. Every video I ever share is based on the truths I share in “The Right Fight.” Matthew 10:39,”Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for m
